Neighbors helping Neighbors cleared Brushy Creek MUD's brush!
This weekend we cleared the last of the registered homes and even Liberty Walk!
On Saturday, we finished all the registered homes and got to work on Liberty Walk. On Sunday, I finished Liberty Walk. Having cleared everything we could and helped all those who reached out, I thought we were officially finished. But I was wrong.
Late Sunday, a homeowner reached out asking when we'd get to her place. After confirming I actually missed her on my list, I went to her house this morning at 4:30 am and cleared two trailer loads on my own. Now I can officially say we're finished!
On Saturday we started with 7 volunteers and two 16' trailers: Kim's trailer had 6' walls allowing us to stack vertically, James' trailer had 3' walls allowing us to lay down the really long stuff. We lost one volunteer when he had to go to his a birthday party but Evan joined us with a dump trailer giving us three (3) trailers and 8 volunteers on the final home! Along with the 3 homeowners, the 10 of us filled all 3 trailers in 20 minutes and cleared them in one trip! Pretty amazing!
And finally, late Sunday, a homeowner reached out asking when we'd get to her place. After confirming I actually missed her on my list, I went to her house this morning at 4:30 am and cleared two trailer loads on my own.
After completing all the registered homes, all three trailers headed to Liberty. We cleared six (6) trailer of brush on Saturday and I cleared two (2) more on Sunday,
and Liberty Walk is done!
There are still some hanging branches (widow makers) but we're leaving these for the County to clear.
Mission Impossible - complete!
This was a tremendous undertaking by the Good Neighbors of Brushy Creek, the homeowners, and the many other volunteers that rose to the task.
The $500,000 cost that the Brushy Creek MUD would have incurred cost around $1,000 to the Good Neighbors, not including all the personal time donated by the volunteers; that was priceless.
Thank you to all those who helped. Without you, we couldn't have gotten it done!
